This is a blog owned by a translator. Thus, it is just logical that I provide you with some information about the service I am offering, i.e. translation. Like I have mentioned in my I am a Freelance Translator, I am a native speaker of Indonesian language. And as you can see, I speak English. And these are the language pair I work on. As you might have known from my previous article, I am a Freelance Translator, I am a newbie in this sort of thing. Yet, I do not think that sharing what I have been through for these last, say, one and a half months will be a mistake since, at least for me, everything is just a matter of process. So is with being a freelance translator. For this time being, within this short period of my career, I can say that there are only four things that one needs to be a freelance translator. However, along with time, there might be a time when I have to revise them, either reducing them to just three or two or adding to them a certain number of issues. Yet, they are still worth-sharing.
What I will say here is not something technical like “read more news in English” or “Learn how to use CAT Tools” and so forth. These things you have to have are some fundamentals within yourself. And since they exist within you, you should have control over them.

Equipped with some craziness towards language, English in particular, I decided to continue my study in 2003 in Semarang State University, commonly known as UNNES, majoring in English Education. It was designated to prepare me and other students to be English teachers. Cornered with incapability of affording my daily needs, I turned my eyes to look for a job. While my fellow students usually chose to teach, thanks to such financial incapability, I decided to take the job as translator. It was Mr. Rahmad Ibrahim who hired me as his translator. With limited linguistic resources in English, I strove to cope with this. As the time went by, I got acquainted to English. To my own surprise, it was in this language-related service that I found some joy I could not get somewhere else. Undoubtedly, I indebted much to Mr. Ibrahim for what I have got.
